Shannon and Steve met a little later in life than some couples do, but Shannon told me during our first meeting that this meant they could skip all the nonsense. They were old enough to know what they wanted: they knew they wanted to grow old together.

They got married in August 2020, and their original wedding date fell into a lucky window when the COVID-19 pandemic had ebbed enough to allow gatherings of 50 guests. Shannon and Steve were married at Grandma Lambe's in Meaford, ON, a family-owned apple orchard with a heritage barn on site.
